How I Work
Whether you've worked with freelance copywriters before or are thinking about trying it for the first time, you're probably wondering how I work.
To put it simply, I'll take my cues from you. I've worked with a wide variety of clients, each with their own personal style. But there are a few pieces of information I'll need for any project:
- Background information. To craft your copy, I'll need starter material. This can come in the form of Word docs, PowerPoint presentations, PDF documents, web copy, webinar recordings, a "brain dump" by phone, or any combination of the above.
- Audience. To whom am I writing? What are their greatest challenges, needs, and goals? What else do we know about them?
- Scope. How many words or pages? How much detail? Which products or services should we cover? How many people or departments will be reviewing the copy?
- Key message. Can you sum up your main message in one concise sentence, and then support it with a tight list of bullet points? (If so, I love you.)
- Timeline. When do you expect to be able to provide me with background material? When do you need final copy? What other milestones do we need to schedule up-front?
- Contact. What's the best way to reach you if I have questions along the way?
